Observatory: The occupation escalates the targeting of civilians, infrastructure, and municipal teams in Gaza

Gaza - Together - The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory said that the Israeli army continues, for the ninth month in a row, its massive military attack on the Gaza Strip with the same level and disproportionate destructive methods, committing permissible and mass murder against Palestinian civilians, including within the areas it declared safe zones. Euro-Med highlighted that it documented a clear escalation in the course of Israeli targeting, whether with regard to bombing homes on the heads of their residents, or targeting the tents of displaced people in areas that Israel declared to be humanitarian zones, during the past days. The escalation reached its peak on Friday, June 21, when more than 67 citizens were killed and more than 125 others were injured. According to the follow-up of the Euro-Mediterranean Observatory field team, Israeli aircraft and tanks bombed the tents of displaced persons in the 'Mawasi Rafah' area near the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross, kil ling 24 displaced Palestinians and wounding 40 others. This is the fourth large-scale massacre committed by Israeli forces against displaced people, forcing them to live in tents in the 'Al-Mawasi' area due to displacement orders and continuous bombing during the past month, coinciding with the continuation of its military attack on the city of Rafah since May 7. The Euro-Med team also documented four Israeli attacks in less than five hours in Gaza City, which led to the killing of 42 Palestinians and the wounding of 85 others, most of them women and children, whose wounds varied from moderate to serious. At around 11:00 on Friday morning, and according to the field team's documentation, Israeli aircraft bombed employees working in the fuel management room in the Gaza municipality, which supplies municipal vehicles, water wells, and sewage stations with fuel, despite there being prior coordination between them and the Israeli army to work and obtain Prior approval of the names of employees who work there. F ive municipal employees were killed in the attack, in addition to a sixth person, a 'clothes seller,' who was at the door of his store at the moment of the attack, near the municipal garage, in central Gaza City. The second targeting came around 1:00 p.m., when Israeli aircraft bombed a residential house in the 'Colored Neighborhood' in the Old City, east of Gaza City, leaving 12 dead in addition to a number of wounded. Among the dead was Palestinian Al-Ahly club player Ahmed Abu Al-Atta, his wife and a number of his children. Minutes later, the third attack was on another house on Al-Nazaz Street, east of Gaza City, belonging to the Badr family, leaving a number of victims dead and wounded. As for the fourth targeting, it was around 3:30 p.m., in an Israeli targeting of a house belonging to the 'Salah' family in the Beach Camp, west of Gaza City, and led to the killing of seven people and the wounding of more than 20 people, most of them women and children, in addition to sporadic targeting of Palestinians in different neighborhoods of The city, leaving 42 dead and 85 wounded. Euro-Med indicated that the Israeli army continued to target and commit mass murders against Palestinian civilians during Eid al-Adha, whether inside their homes or during their attempts to carry out family visits. Euro-Med reaffirmed that the Israeli military attacks in the Gaza Strip and the results and effects they caused, with terrifying statistics in terms of the number of victims and the severity of the destruction, confirm that what Israel has done and continues to do constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity that exist in and of themselves, and come within the framework of the crime of genocide that it is committing against the population. The Palestinians have been in the Gaza Strip for nine months, which requires activating all levels of international, legal and judicial investigations and accountability mechanisms and serious work to hold Israeli leaders and soldiers accountable and not allow them to escape punishment , and to compensate the victims and their families in accordance with the rules of international law. Euro-Med demands that the United States of America be held accountable as a major partner in committing crimes against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including the crime of genocide, for providing various forms of military, logistical, operational and financial support to Israel in its military attack on the Strip, including holding accountable all American officials who participated. In making criminally relevant decisions. Euro-Med also renewed its call on all countries to assume their international responsibilities by imposing effective sanctions on Israel, and stopping all forms of political, financial and military support and cooperation provided to it, including immediately stopping arms transfers to it, including export licenses and military aid.
