OCA Chief Discusses Asian Sporting Cooperation Ahead of Sanya Meetings

Kuala lumpur: HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Qatar Olympic Committee, met on Monday with Olympic Council of Malaysia President Dr. Norza Zakaria to discuss strengthening sporting cooperation across Asia. The discussions took place during an official visit to Malaysia and were centered on expanding collaboration within the Olympic movement and enhancing coordination among Asian sporting bodies.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting highlighted shared ambitions to further develop sport across the continent and reinforce ties between national Olympic committees. The officials emphasized the importance of fostering unity and collaboration within the Asian sporting community to achieve these goals.

Following the meeting, HE Sheikh Joaan departed Malaysia for Sanya, China, where he is scheduled to chair the 109th OCA Executive Board meeting. This meeting is expected to address various issues related to the development and promotion of sports in Asia.

In addition to his role in the Executive Board meeting, HE Sheikh Joaan is also expected to formally open the sixth edition of the Asian Beach Games. The Games, beginning later this week in China, will bring together athletes from across Asia in a multi-sport beach competition. This event is designed to promote regional sporting exchange and development, furthering the objectives discussed during the meeting in Malaysia.
