OIC Special Envoy Joins Task Force Meetings on Afghanistan in Doha

Doha: The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to Afghanistan attended the working group meetings on Afghanistan. His Excellency Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhit, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs and Special Envoy for Afghanistan, participated in these discussions, which took place in Doha, Qatar, on June 30 and July 1, 2025.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the meetings were part of the Doha Process for Peace in Afghanistan, an initiative led by the United Nations. The event was jointly hosted and organized by the State of Qatar and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). The discussions covered a range of topics, including counter-narcotics, alternative livelihoods, drug abuse prevention and treatment, law enforcement, and the current state of Afghanistan's private sector.

The OIC delegation engaged in several bilateral meetings with representatives from various countries and organizations. During these interactions, the delegation clarified the OIC's stance on the issues discussed, aiming to build a shared understanding and explore common ground for future progress.
