New York, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, the Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, met with Simon Stiell, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York. The minister praised the UNFCCC's efforts in climate action and aligning international positions to achieve climate security and sustainable development goals, reaffirming the Kingdom's commitment to the UNFCCC. They discussed Bahrain's preparations for the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP29), to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, and reviewed the Kingdom's efforts in carbon emission reduction and climate adaptation, as well as ways to enhance cooperation with the UNFCCC and countries party to the convention.
