Oil Prices Slip at Close of First Trading Day of the New Year

Doha: Oil prices settled lower at the close of trading on the first day of the new year: Oil prices settled lower at the close of trading on the first day of the new year.

According to Qatar News Agency, Brent crude futures fell by 10 cents, or 0.16 percent, to settle at USD 60.75 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also declined by 10 cents, or 0.17 percent, settling at USD 57.32 a barrel.

Both benchmark crudes recorded annual losses of nearly 20 percent in 2025, marking their largest yearly declines since 2020.
