Doha: Algeria's Olympic boxing champion Imane Khelif is embarking on an intensive training camp in Qatar at Aspire Academy.
According to Qatar News Agency, she announced at a press conference on Thursday that she will be training at the Academy until March 29th as she prepares for the 2025 World Boxing Championships. Imane Khelif expressed her honor to train at Aspire Academy and her appreciation for the support she has received. She emphasized that this experience would help elevate her journey in the sport and allow her to proudly represent Arab women in boxing. She thanked Kotinos - Aspire Sports Consulting and Management for facilitating this opportunity.
Director General of Aspire Academy Ivan Bravo welcomed Khelif to the Academy, stating that their team is committed to providing her with the best possible resources to support her journey. The training camp, supported by Aspire Academy and the Qatar Boxing Federation, will offer Khelif state-of-the-art facilities and expert coaching to ensure she is ready to perform at the highest level in Liverpool. Khelif aims to surpass the silver medal she won at the 2022 World Championships in Istanbul.
Khelif joins a list of world-class athletes who have chosen Aspire Academy for their training camps. Polish hammer-thrower Anita Wlodarczyk, a world record holder and three-time Olympic Champion, is a regular visitor. In addition, major football teams, including Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, have also spent time at Aspire Academy.
