Doha: The Pakistani army announced the elimination of nine militants during two security operations in the northwest of the country.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Pakistani army explained in a statement on Monday that security forces conducted the operations in response to intelligence information. This intelligence monitored the movements of militants in the Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The statement further detailed that the operations resulted in the deaths of nine militants. Additionally, the army reported a separate incident on Sunday, where four militants were killed while attempting to breach the security perimeter of a security forces camp in the Boya area of North Waziristan.
The Pakistani army has been engaged in an ongoing conflict with armed groups across various regions of the country for several years.
