Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed with Brazilian President Luiz In¡cio Lula da Silva the latest political developments in Palestine and the region in a phone call on Thursday. The two leaders also explored avenues for enhancing bilateral relations between their countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, President Abbas expressed gratitude to President Lula for Brazil's steadfast political positions in international forums and its support for the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence, in line with international law. Abbas also acknowledged Brazil's backing for peace, stability, and security in the region.
