The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the UN Security Council (UNSC) responsible for the consequences of its continued failure to halt the war of genocide against the Palestinian people. In a statement on Wednesday, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on UNSC to uphold the legal responsibilities and practice its power to provide protection for the Palestinians and stop all forms of genocide being perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces, including the use of starvation as a weapon, practices of depriving the Palestinians of medical treatment, as well as forced displacement in the northern Gaza Strip. The statement warned of the perils of any schemes designed to entrench apartheid in the Palestinian homeland, which would undermine the opportunities for realizing Palestinian statehood on the ground. The Israeli occupation does not have the authority to veto the management of institutions in the Palestinian enclave and should not be allowed to do so, especially since the Strip is an integral part of the occupied territory of the State of Palestine. The internationally recognized Palestinian legitimacy is the sole entity capable of resolving the crisis, saving the Palestinian people, and enabling them to achieve freedom and self-determination. The statement called on countries that claim to support a two-state solution to respect their commitments and implement them in a way that genuinely embodies the two-state solution and achieves security and stability for all parties. In conclusion, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs underlined that it is monitoring international political, diplomatic, and legal efforts at all levels to stop the genocidal war, in collaboration with its embassies and diplomatic missions. It also aims to galvanize a broader global front to pressure for a position that adheres to international legitimacy and its resolutions, primarily the UN General Assembly resolution endorsing the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
