Manama, Bahrain's parliamentary delegation participated in the GCC parliamentary coordination meeting held virtually, in preparation for the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to be held in Geneva during October 13-17. Representing Bahrain's parliamentary delegation were Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, Shura Council member, MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, and MP Dr. Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Showaikh. The delegation emphasised the unified Gulf parliamentary stance on key issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, which remains the primary Arab concern. They supported the emergency agenda item proposed by the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), after recent amendments, in light of the current political and security situation in Palestine. The meeting discussed vacancies in the permanent committees of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, with GCC representatives supporting Arab parliam entary membership in these committees to boost Arab contributions to the Union's work.
