Local authorities in Iowa announced that a powerful tornado swept through Greenfield town, killing and injuring dozens of people in a preliminary toll. The authorities explained that the tornado had destroyed a large part of the town, and research efforts were continuing to provide a clear and accurate count of the number of those affected. On Tuesday, the local weather service issued storm warnings for most of Iowa and several Midwestern states, including Minnesota and Wisconsin.
