Ramallah: The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club (PPS) warned of the ongoing systematic crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation’s prison administration against Palestinian captives, calling on human rights and humanitarian organizations around the globe to take immediate action to halt these escalating violations.
According to Qatar News Agency, PPS stated that these violations include medical neglect, starvation, solitary confinement, and repeated assaults. Field reports from visits to Ofer, Megiddo, Gilboa, and the Negev prisons revealed that all captives who have been visited suffer many health problems.
The statement also confirmed an increase in the frequency of night and morning raids and repression by prison administration units, aimed at humiliating and intimidating captives. It was pointed out that the prison administration uses captives’ pain and injuries as a means of torture and abuse, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. The occupation is held fully responsible for the lives and physical and psychological well-being of captives, PPS noted.
The crimes committed against captives have become part of a systematic policy implemented daily, resulting in the deaths of dozens, amidst a disturbing international silence. Human rights and humanitarian organizations are calling for immediate action to halt these escalating violations.
