Premier League: Arsenal Defeat Leeds United 5-0 to Claim Temporary Top Spot

Arsenal: Arsenal cruised to a dominant 5-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday, temporarily climbing to the top of the Premier League table in the second round of the 2025-26 season.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Gunners took a 2-0 lead into halftime with goals from Jurrien Timber in the 34th minute and Bukayo Saka in first-half stoppage time (45+1). They added three more after the break, with Viktor Gyokeres scoring twice and Timber netting his second in the dying moments (48, 56, 90+5).

With the win, Arsenal moved to six points from two matches, having also defeated Manchester United in their season opener. Leeds, newly promoted to the top flight, remain on three points and sit 11th in the standings.

Arsenal face a major test next week when they travel to Anfield to take on reigning champions Liverpool on August 31. Leeds will meet Newcastle United on Saturday.

Elsewhere in the round, Bournemouth edged Wolverhampton 1-0, Brentford defeated Aston Villa by the same scoreline, and Burnley beat Sunderland 2-0.

Sunday's fixtures feature Crystal Palace vs. Nottingham Forest, Everton vs. Brighton, and Fulham vs. Manchester United. The round concludes Monday with Newcastle United hosting Liverpool.
