Ramallah - Ma'an - Preparations have been completed to launch the polio vaccination campaign in Gaza tomorrow, Sunday. The Ministry of Health said this morning, Saturday, that in cooperation with international health organizations (the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and UNRWA), it has completed its preparations to launch the vaccination campaign. The Ministry confirmed that it is leading the campaign in the southern governorates of Palestine in cooperation with international health partners, stressing that vaccination is completely safe. She explained that the vaccination programme targets more than 600,000 children in the southern governorates of Palestine. She renewed her appeal to citizens to go to the nearest vaccination center according to the map published by the ministry in order to vaccinate their children to protect them from polio. The Ministry published the schedule for the polio vaccination campaign in the southern governorates of Palestine for children under the age of 10 years, as follo ws: from Sunday to Wednesday (1-4/9/2024), Deir al-Balah Governorate, and from Thursday to Sunday (5-8/9/2024), Khan Yunis Governorate and its surroundings, and from Monday to Thursday (9-12/9/2024), Gaza Governorate and the North. The Minister of Health, Majed Abu Ramadan, praised the efforts and work of all the cadres of the Palestinian Ministry of Health, especially in the southern governorates, who work in dangerous and unsafe conditions due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which threatens the lives of every citizen in the Gaza Strip. Abu Ramadan expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts and work of all health partners in the World Health Organization, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and UNICEF for their cooperation and great support for the success of the polio vaccination campaign for children in the Gaza Strip.
