Istanbul, Tayyip Erdogan, President of Trkiye, arrived in the Iraqi capital Baghdad to hold talks with officials in the neighbouring country. Erdogan was welcomed by Minister Mohammed Shia'al Sudani, the Iraqi Prime Minister, and other Iraqi officials in a ceremony at Baghdad International Airport. This is the first official visit by the Turkish President to Iraq in 13 years. According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan was accompanied by Hakan Fidan, Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ali Yerlikaya, Turkish Minister of Interior; Yasar Guler, Minister of National Defense; Fahrettin Altun, Director of Trkiye's Presidential Communications; and Akif Çagatay Kiliç, President's Chief Advisor for Foreign Policy and Security, and other ministers. Erdogan is expected to hold a meeting with Abdul Latif Rashid, his Iraqi counterpart, and the Iraqi Prime Minister during his one-day visit. After Baghdad, he will also be visiting Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq. Source: Bahrai n News Agency
