President of Asian Athletics Association Highlights Sheikh Joaan’s Election as OCA President as a Milestone for Asian Sports

Doha: HE President of the Asian Athletics Association, Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, emphasized that the election of HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani as President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) represents a major leap for Asia towards the horizons of sporting excellence, and it also reflects the great confidence of the Asian Olympic Committees in His Excellency's ability to lead the OCA toward more successes in the future.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE the President of the Asian Athletics Association said that HE Sheikh Joaan possesses development capabilities and visions for institutional work, in addition to high administrative capabilities and established experience, which are elements that qualify him to lead the OCA toward a bright future that meets the aspirations of Asian sports.

Al Hamad added that the assumption of the presidency of the OCA by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani will enhance the opportunities for institutional development of Asia through great cooperation between sports institutions, support for sustainability paths, and consolidation of Olympic work values in all national Olympic committees and continental federations.

HE the President of the Asian Athletics Association congratulated the Asian Olympic Committees on the election of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani as President of the OCA, given his insightful vision for developing Asian sports and consolidating Olympic values and concepts. He stressed that the next stage requires leadership that possesses experience, vision, and the ability to work comprehensively in institutional development, planning, and management. These are factors firmly established in HE Sheikh Joaan's vision for Olympic work, and they have become clear through his great successes in leading the QOC to integrated achievements on all technical and administrative levels during the past years.

HE President of QOC Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani was elected unopposed as the new President of the OCA during the 46th General Assembly meeting held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Monday, with the participation of more than 350 sports officials from 45 Asian Olympic committees.
