Doha: President of the Qatar Basketball Federation Mohammed Saad Al Mughiseeb praised the high technical level of the 2025-2026 basketball season, which concluded this evening with Al Arabi SC winning the 27th edition of the Amir Cup for men after defeating Al Sadd SC 84-63 in the final. According to Qatar News Agency, Al Mughiseeb thanked the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and the President of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani for attending the final and presenting the awards to the winners. He said that the Amir Cup was a sporting festival that serves as the grand finale of the basketball season. This was reflected throughout the tournament, especially in the final match, which featured a high technical level and intense competition between the two sides for the prestigious title. He said that the final was a fitting conclusion to a strong season across all competitions, particularly after Al Arabi took control of the match in the third quarter before sealing the victo ry, following an evenly balanced first half. Al Mughiseeb congratulated Al Arabi on winning the title, describing the Amir Cup as ideal preparation for the team ahead of its participation in the FIBA WASL Gulf League. He praised the performances delivered by Al Arabi this season after the club secured a domestic treble consisting of the league title, Qatar Cup, and Amir Cup. He noted that the Amir Cup consistently features high technical standards each season, as reflected in the diversity of champions and the inability of any club to monopolize the title for more than two consecutive seasons in recent years. He also wished success to all clubs in future editions. The federation president also praised the basketball community for organizing competitions throughout the season, highlighting the collective commitment to ensuring success both technically and organizationally. He added that the strong competition among Al Arabi SC, Al Rayyan SC, Al Shamal SC, and Al Sadd SC for the season's titles added furthe r excitement. In concluding his remarks to Qatar News Agency, Al Mughiseeb said that following the end of the season, the federation is now preparing the national team for upcoming competitions, most notably the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, which are scheduled to begin next September.
