Damascus, Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin exchanged cables of congratulations on 80th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Syria and Russian Federation. President al-Assad stressed that both countries have exchanged support for 80 years and remained committed to principles and dignity despite being subjected to all forms of pressure and attempts to break their will. President al-Assad went on saying that Russia's constant stances would establish a multipolar world, stressing that 'in light of the hegemony we face and the war we are witnessing, yet the final word is resilience, not retreat or defeat. President al-Assad, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Syrians, congratulates the friendly Russian people, who have established for decades, strong relations and mutual trust with the Syrian people. President al-Assad added that Russian policies and stances are based on respect principles of states sovereignty, wishing Russian leadership and people more progress and fo r Syrian-Russian relations a permanent prosperity. In turn, President Putin stressed Russia's continuous support for Syria in preserving sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, asserting that Syrian-Russian relations seek enhancing peace and stability at the regional and international levels. President Putin congratulated Syrian leadership and people, wishing prosperity for the Syrian people, stressing that thanks for joint efforts in various fields between both countries, they have achieved remarkable success particularly in combating terrorism.
