Doha: May 18 - The prestigious Dutch publishing house, Brill, took part in the Doha International Book Fair for the first time ever, participating in the 33rd edition held under the theme "Knowledge Builds Civilizations." Established in 1683, Brill is one of the oldest European publishing houses. Since its inception, it has devoted an entire department to publish academic journals on Arabic and Islamic studies, with its 'Encyclopaedia of Islam' being among its most prominent works, published in 1913 in English, French, and German. Editor for Brill's Middle East and Islamic Studies Abdurraouf Oueslati to Qatar News Agency that Brill's first participation in the Doha International Book Fair has been very successful and fruitful, whereby the publishing house developed new partnerships with Qatari institutions, such as with the Hassan Bin Mohammed Center for Historical Studies and the Qatar National Library. Oueslati pointed out however that Brill has previously collaborated with the Hamad Bin Khalifa Universit y's Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics, on publishing four books.
