Prime Minister and German Chancellor Lead Qatari-German Business Roundtable

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, alongside HE Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Friedrich Merz, co-chaired the session of the Qatari-German Business Roundtable held in Doha on Thursday. The meeting focused on fostering business relations and exploring investment opportunities between the two nations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Prime Minister welcomed the German delegation and emphasized the robust foundations of cooperation between Qatar and Germany. He highlighted Qatar's efforts to enhance relations with Germany over recent decades and noted Qatar's status as one of the largest foreign investors in Germany through the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA). German companies, he stated, have significantly contributed to Qatar's economy.

The Prime Minister pointed out the existing collaboration in fields such as energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and financial institutions. He expressed Qatar's aspirations to extend this cooperation into technology, healthcare, and artificial intelligence, identifying them as future-oriented industries.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister reiterated Qatar's commitment to expanding business ties and fostering a conducive environment for companies from both countries. He mentioned Qatar's ongoing review of laws and regulations to align with contemporary developments, highlighting Qatar's role as a reliable partner bridging East and West.

The roundtable also examined strategies to enhance cooperation in various sectors and explore investment prospects in both countries. The event was attended by several CEOs and representatives from numerous organizations and agencies from Qatar and Germany.
