The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has announced the winners of the 15th edition of the UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education for 2023. The winning projects are " Connecting the Dots: Data-Driven Carbon Literacy" by the GOGO School Teachers' Association from the Republic of Korea and "EducoNetImpact" by a group of researchers at the University of Mons in Belgium. These projects were selected from 71 nominations submitted by 36 UNESCO member states and three non-governmental organisations officially affiliated with UNESCO. Both projects exemplify the intersection of digital learning and greening education by using technology to enhance environmental and climate education and raising awareness about the environmental impact of digital technology. The award ceremony will take place on September 2 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Minister of Education, extended his congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the success of this year's award. He highlighted the award's international reputation, which has attracted participants from dozens of countries worldwide. He added that the Ministry of Education will continue its close cooperation with UNESCO to implement various educational projects and initiatives that support and develop successful educational practices globally. The UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education honours individuals, institutions, and non-governmental organisations that adopt best practices and innovative uses of ICT to enhance learning, teaching, and overall educational performance. This aligns with UNESCO's goals of providing quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all. Source: Bahrain News Agency
