New york: The State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Bhutan have officially established diplomatic relations, as confirmed by a joint communiqu© signed at Qatar's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. This significant event marks the beginning of formal diplomatic interaction between the two nations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the communiqu© was signed by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, and HE Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the United Nations, Pema Lektup Dorji. The signing ceremony underscored the commitment of both nations to foster a cooperative and friendly relationship.
Both sides expressed a mutual desire to strengthen their bilateral ties, focusing on the principles outlined in the Charter of the United Nations and international law. They pledged to respect and promote international peace and security, ensure equality among states, and uphold national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
