Doha: The Qatar Sports Media Committee and the Saudi Sports Media Federation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance sports media cooperation between the two nations. This agreement was formalized as part of the initiatives of the Sports and Youth Committee, an extension of the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council, with a focus on strengthening integration and collaboration in key sectors, especially sports media.
According to Qatar News Agency, the MoU aims to establish a framework for bilateral cooperation in sports media, promoting the exchange of expertise, joint initiatives, training programs, and workshops. It also aims to coordinate positions in relevant regional and international forums. The collaboration is expected to contribute to the development of media content, empower professional cadres, and enhance the Gulf presence in the international media arena.
In a statement, Mubarak Mohammed Al Buainain, Secretary of the Qatar Sports Media Committee, emphasized that the memorandum embodies the spirit of brotherhood and integration between media professionals in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the importance of empowering young media professionals with modern skills and expertise, viewing the MoU as a platform to create a generation of sports media professionals equipped to meet digital challenges and professional demands.
Jabr Mohammed Al Shaigi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Sports Media Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the cooperative effort, noting it as part of broader initiatives from the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. He stressed that the MoU is a robust pillar for strengthening the presence of Qatari and Saudi sports media in major events and serves as a model for unified Gulf institutional work. Al Shaigi also expressed hopes for expanding this cooperation to include broader regional and international initiatives.
The MoU stipulates that periodic meetings will be held between the two parties to oversee implementation and form specialized working groups to enact the agreed-upon provisions, aiming to serve the future of Gulf and Arab sports media.
