Qatar has been supportive of Syria since the fall of the former Syrian regime on Dec. 8, 2024, providing critical aid including medical supplies, food, and shelter. This commitment was further demonstrated by Qatar resuming its embassy operations in Damascus after a hiatus of nearly 13 years, underscoring its support for the Syrian people's calls for freedom and justice.

On Dec. 23, 2024, discussions between HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi and Al Sharaa in Damascus focused on enhancing bilateral relations and Qatar's support across all sectors.
