Doha: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the field of dispute settlement.
According to Qatar News Agency, the MoU was signed by HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, representing Qatar, and HE Minister for the Middle East and North Africa at the UK FCDO, Hamish Falconer, representing the United Kingdom.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between Qatar and the UK in mediation and peaceful dispute resolution. It includes plans to exchange expertise and experiences to support dialogue and build capacities in preventive diplomacy and conflict resolution. The MoU also seeks to coordinate joint efforts to support regional and global peace initiatives.
During the signing event, both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in mediation and regional dialogue. They also talked about coordinating their positions on Middle East issues of mutual concern.
Additionally, the discussions covered recent regional developments in the Gaza Strip, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, along with diplomatic efforts focused on reducing tensions in these areas.
