Doha: The Qatar Basketball Federation announced Thursday the strengthening cooperation with its Hungarian counterpart, following a meeting held between representatives of the two federations with the aim of exchanging expertise and developing relations in a way that contributes to raising the level of basketball in the two countries. During the meeting, it was agreed to organize two international matches between the Qatari and Hungarian national teams, with the first match set to be held in Budapest and the second in Doha, in addition to holding a training camp for the Qatari national team in Hungary as part of its preparations for the next stage of the Asian qualifiers, during which it will face the Indian and Iranian national teams. Regarding this cooperation, Secretary-General of the Qatar Basketball Federation Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, underlined the importance of cooperation with the Hungarian Federation, considering this step part of the Qatar Basketball Federation's strategy to strengthen its internat ional cooperation with other federations of the game in countries around the world, and to develop the level of basketball in the country. The Qatari basketball team are currently holding a training camp in Serbia in preparation for participating in the GCC Basketball Championship, which will be held in Bahrain from Sep. 2 to 7 at the Khalifa Sports City Hall in Manama, with the participation of the national teams of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain. Meanwhile, the Qatari youth basketball team are preparing to participate in the 2024 Asian Youth Cup, which will be held in Jordan from Sep. 2 to 9. It is worth noting that the Qatari team won the title of the GCC Youth Championship in its last edition in Kuwait, after winning all their matches in the championship, and secured its qualification for the next Asian Cup finals.
