Doha: The Qatar Basketball Federation announced Saturday a revised schedule for the inaugural edition of the Qatar Basketball Super Cup, which will mark the opening of the 2025-2026 sports season.
According to Qatar News Agency, the semifinal matches, featuring Al Arabi, Al Rayyan, Al Sadd, and Al Ahli, will now be held on Monday, with the final set for Wednesday. The semifinals were originally scheduled for Saturday, October 11, with the final planned for Monday, October 13.
The updated schedule begins with Al Rayyan facing Al Ahli at 5:30 p.m., followed by Al Sadd taking on Al Arabi at 7:30 p.m., both matches to be played at the same venue.
The federation said the tournament aligns with its broader strategy to enhance domestic competition and boost clubs' technical readiness ahead of the new season. It also aims to increase fan engagement and promote wider interest in Qatari basketball.
Fans and basketball enthusiasts were encouraged to attend and enjoy high-level matchups featuring top local talent. The federation expressed its hopes for a successful tournament and emphasized that the Super Cup promises an exciting start to a dynamic season.
The four participating teams include Al Arabi (last season's league champion and runner-up in HH the Amir Cup), Al Rayyan (HH the Amir Cup winner and league runner-up), and Al Sadd and Al Ahli (third and fourth place in the general league standings).
