Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at the Amiri Diwan.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi announced that the Cabinet reviewed and approved several significant draft laws and agreements. The meeting began with the Shura Council's approval of a draft law to combat doping in sports, aligning with the International Convention Against Doping in Sports.
The Cabinet tentatively approved a draft law amending Law No. 23 of 2006 regarding the Legal Practice Law. This draft will be presented on the "Sharek" platform for public feedback over a seven-day period. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Justice's strategy to enhance the legal framework and efficiency in Qatar, aligning with Amiri Decree No. 3 of 2025.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft amendment to Decision No. 12 of 2024 on the Hayya Platform, broadening the committee's mandate to facilitate the entry of investors, property owners, entrepreneurs, and talented individuals into Qatar. This initiative aims to attract distinguished residents and ease their entry and residency procedures in the country.
The Cabinet further approved a draft decision on the employment system for state lawyers, redefining appointment procedures and organizing employment affairs as per Amiri Decision No. 3 of 2025. Another draft decision was approved to regulate lawsuits involving government agencies, which seeks to expedite justice and establish a legal framework for reconciliation and settlement initiatives.
Internationally, the Cabinet approved several draft agreements, including a security cooperation agreement with Italy for the 2026 Winter Olympics, and agreements with Benin on worker employment and higher education cooperation. It also endorsed a memorandum on mutual recognition of seafarers' certificates with Benin.
Moreover, the Cabinet approved draft agreements to support the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the World Health Organization through the Qatar Fund For Development for 2025-2026. A letter of intent regarding Qatar's cooperation strategy with the WHO for 2024-2030 was also approved.
The Cabinet concluded by reviewing the 2024 results of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking and the outcomes of Qatar's participation in the Qatari-Russian Business Forum, led by HE Minister of Commerce and Industry.
