Doha: President of the Qatar Camel Mzayen Club Dr. Mabkhout Bofareih stated that the great success of the 2nd edition of the Mafareed Challenge Festival underscores the important role the club plays in developing and promoting this ancestral sport, emphasizing the festival's significance on the club's calendar. According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Bofareih mentioned that the Mafareed Challenge Festival is a premier sporting, cultural, and economic gathering aimed at preserving Qatar's camel heritage, protecting camels from misuse, and instilling this heritage in current and future generations. He noted that this year's event achieved success on all levels, from the strong turnout of camel owners from Qatar and across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to the intense competitions over six days, culminating in million-riyal deals made during the event. Dr. Bofareih expressed surprise at the large number of participants from GCC countries, which included several well-known names in the world of camel beauty contests. He noted that this year's edition saw major improvements in terms of prize values, judging mechanism, procedural transparency, and logistics, along with enhanced facilities and a variety of accompanying entertainment and cultural activities. Head of the Mafareed Challenge Festival Ali Al Hamidi congratulated the winners and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the event's success, including camel owners, trainers, and the large turnout, which reflected Qatar's deep passion for this ancestral sport. Chairman of the media committee Mohammad Bakhit praised the festival's success, especially on the media front, highlighting the committee's efforts to cover the event, providing photo coverage, daily reports, and field interviews with owners and winners to convey the event's spirit.
