Qatar Celebrates Diplomatic and Economic Advancements with Key Agreements and Initiatives

Doha: The Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA) marked a significant milestone on Tuesday with the graduation of students from its postgraduate programs held at the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) headquarters. This event was graced by the patronage of HE President of the QOC and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the QOA, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani.

According to Qatar News Agency, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and the Diplomatic Academy at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Uzbekistan. This agreement aims to foster cooperation in diplomatic training and education between the two institutions.

In a concerted effort to protect the environment, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), alongside the Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ), has initiated the second phase of the Rawda fencing initiative at Rawdat Umm Laqhab, Al Thakhira. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to preserve ecosystems and bolster the sustainability of vegetation cover.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced an impressive registration of 2,848 contestants for the Buds Branch competitions of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Holy Quran Competition. The 31st edition of this competition highlights the community's growing interest in the memorization of the Holy Quran.

On the maritime front, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Mwani Qatar and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) to enhance maritime and logistics cooperation. Furthermore, Qatar Chamber engaged in discussions with the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) to explore economic relations and investment opportunities.

Msheireb Properties and Qatar Charity have formalized their collaboration through a newly signed MoU, while the Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) is set to host the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Summit from April 5 to 7, 2026.

The humanitarian efforts of Qatar continue as the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), in collaboration with Qatar's Gaza Reconstruction Committee, has commenced the distribution of food aid to displaced families across the Gaza Strip. This initiative is part of the Qatari aid convoys entering Gaza through Al-Arish, Egypt.

Qatar's representation at the 8th extraordinary meeting of the GCC Undersecretaries of Ministries of Industry Committee was also noted, with the meeting being conducted virtually via video conferencing.

Qatar University (QU), in partnership with Qatar Shell, launched the third cohort of the "Shell Intilaaqah - Qatar" program. The Katara Cultural Village announced the opening of nominations for the 5th Katara Prize for Arabic Poetry, focusing on Sawdah bint Zam'ah, and is preparing to welcome the Holy Month of Ramadan with a range of cultural, religious, and recreational programs.

The 18th Qatar Robotics and AI Competition concluded successfully at Lusail Hall in Doha, while the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) reported a 57% growth in commercial registrations, issuing nearly 28,000 during 2025. The ministry also conducted intensive inspection campaigns on retail outlets in preparation for Ramadan.

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) hosted the Sustainable Mobility Symposium, emphasizing the importance of decarbonizing transportation for sustainable mobility in Qatar and the region.

Lastly, the Ministry of Youth and Sports organized "Our Youth Forum," an interactive meeting gathering young Qataris who have represented the country at international events over the past year. The Organizing Committee of the Doha Equestrian Tours also announced details of the 13th Al Shaqab International Equestrian Championship, part of the 2026 Doha Equestrian Tours.
