Doha: The State of Qatar chaired the 11th meeting of the Senior Officials Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Economic and Development Affairs Authority in Doha today. The meeting was attended by Their Excellencies the undersecretaries of the ministries of finance and economy in the GCC states. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance Dr Saud bin Abdullah Al Attiyah. During his opening speech, he said that this meeting aims to enhance cooperation, financial integration, and the economic model among GCC countries. He added that in light of the circumstances and challenges currently facing global economies, the course of Gulf cooperation has proven its ability to achieve tangible successes, which reflect the strength of cooperation and coordination between the GCC countries, as they have been able together to achieve significant progress in various economic fields by building successful models in dealing with crises and overcoming challenges. He explained that the role of the members of the Senior Officials Committee of the Economic and Development Affairs Authority is to complete the efforts, follow up on the progress of work, and ensure that it is on the right track. The agenda covered several topics related to the stages of economic integration within the GCC, particularly focusing on the governance of joint Gulf economic and development initiatives, as well as developments in the implementation plan, work mechanisms, and the timeline for building the Gulf economic model.
