Qatar Chamber and Indian Business Delegation Explore Investment Opportunities

Doha: The Qatar Chamber (QC) held discussions with a delegation of Indian businessmen to explore opportunities for enhancing cooperation and partnership between the Qatari and Indian private sectors. The talks focused on promising investment sectors for investors in both countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE QC Board Member Mohammed bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi led the Qatari delegation, while Sanjay Beswal, Co-Chair of the International Affairs Committee at PHDCCI India, led the Indian side. Al Ahbabi highlighted the robust cooperation between Qatar and India, especially in trade and economic relations, noting that India is one of Qatar's most significant trading partners. The bilateral trade between the two nations is expected to reach QR 48 billion by 2024.

Al Ahbabi emphasized the active role of the Indian business community in supporting Qatar's economic development, with numerous Indian companies operating in various sectors within the Qatari market. He reiterated the QC's commitment to fostering partnerships and cooperation through joint investments and projects in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, technology, healthcare, and food security. He also invited Indian companies to explore investment opportunities in Qatar, citing the country's advanced infrastructure and progressive legislation as facilitators for deeper collaboration.

Sanjay Beswal of PHDCCI, one of India's oldest chambers, expressed eagerness to strengthen ties with Qatar Chamber to develop robust partnerships between the business sectors of both countries. He noted the strong economic and commercial ties between the two nations and India's status as one of Qatar's leading exporters. Beswal encouraged Indian companies to invest in Qatar and collaborate with Qatari counterparts, while also inviting Qatari investors to explore India's promising investment opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, services, renewable energy, and technology.

Beswal also invited Qatari businessmen and investors to visit India to explore available opportunities and engage with Indian counterparts for potential cooperation and joint ventures. The meeting included a presentation on investment opportunities in India in areas such as energy, infrastructure, technology, agriculture, healthcare, and fintech. The event was attended by Commercial Attache at the Indian Embassy in Qatar, Deepak Pundir, along with Qatari and Indian businessmen.
