Qatar Chamber and Pakistan’s Sialkot Chamber Explore Economic Collaboration

Doha: Qatar Chamber (QC) engaged in discussions with Pakistan's Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to explore and enhance economic cooperation, aiming to strengthen institutional collaboration and support private sector engagement to boost bilateral trade and investment.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a meeting with SCCI President Ikram ul Haq and his delegation, QC General Manager Ali Boushraibek Al Mansouri praised the close trade and economic relations between Qatar and Pakistan. He highlighted that the total trade volume reached approximately QAR 12.7 billion in 2024, with Qatari exports, primarily petroleum gases and gaseous hydrocarbons, accounting for QAR 12.2 billion, while imports from Pakistan totaled about QAR 500 million.

Al Mansouri also noted the presence of over 2,000 Pakistani companies registered with QC, operating alongside Qatari firms, in addition to 37 companies that are fully Pakistani-owned. He emphasized that the Qatari market remains receptive to more Pakistani investors.

SCCI President Ikram ul Haq expressed his appreciation for the strong bilateral relations, noting that the delegation included key representatives from Pakistan's healthcare and sports manufacturing sectors who are eager to establish strategic alliances with Qatari businesses.

Muhammad Imtiaz Khan, Executive Director of the healthcare company Med Ask, highlighted the investment opportunities in Sialkot's healthcare sector, expressing Pakistani firms' eagerness to collaborate with Qatari counterparts in joint ventures involving hospitals, pharmacies, and medical laboratories.

Khawaja Masood Akhtar, Chairman of Forward Group, a leading football manufacturer and exporter, mentioned that his company produced the footballs used during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and is currently manufacturing footballs for the 2026 tournament. He expressed interest in building partnerships with Qatari companies to expand their international reach.
