Doha: Qatar Chamber (QC) engaged in discussions with the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP) on Sunday, focusing on bolstering bilateral trade and economic relations between Qatar and Portugal. The meeting aimed to fortify connections between the business communities of both nations and enhance the contributions of the Qatari and Portuguese private sectors.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting took place at QC's headquarters and included Acting Director-General of Qatar Chamber Ali Bu Sharbak Al Mansori, AIP Director Pina Pires, and AIP Project Partner Manul Campos. Al Mansori commended the robust relations between Qatar and Portugal, particularly in commerce and economics. He highlighted that the bilateral trade volume between the two countries reached QAR 441 million in 2024, emphasizing QC's dedication to intensifying trade ties and broadening partnerships between Qatari and Portuguese enterprises.
Filomena, representing AIP, expressed the enthusiasm of Portuguese business owners for exploring investment opportunities in Qatar and forming alliances with Qatari entrepreneurs and investors, both locally and in Portugal. She extended an invitation for Qatari private sector companies to visit Portugal to gain insights into the available opportunities in various sectors such as industry, trade, construction, agriculture, transport, and communications.
Filomena further mentioned that the visit aims to enhance collaboration and coordination with the Qatar Chamber in organizing joint business events and meetings targeting Qatari and Portuguese companies. Additionally, she proposed hosting trade fairs to display the products and services of the private sectors in both countries. She noted that AIP, being the largest business association in Portugal, also functions as a chamber of commerce and industry.
