Doha: Qatar Chamber and a Russian trade delegation engaged in discussions to enhance cooperation between the private sectors of Qatar and Russia, focusing on expanding investment partnerships that serve mutual interests.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting took place on Wednesday and was attended by Qatar Chamber's First Vice-Chairman, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, and a Russian delegation led by HE First Deputy Governor of the Novgorod Region, Evgenii Bogdanov. Several Qatari businessmen and representatives of local companies were also present.
During the meeting, Mohamed bin Twar highlighted the growing ties between Qatar and Russia, noting an increase in Qatari investments in Russia across various sectors. He mentioned that 58 Russian companies are currently operating in the Qatari market, either through full Russian ownership or in partnership with Qatari entities. The Qatar Chamber expressed its readiness to assist Russian companies in exploring cooperation with Qatari counterparts, with opportunities in energy, advanced manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, food security, technology, and infrastructure.
The discussion also underscored the role of the Qatari-Russian Business Council in fostering cooperation between both countries' private sectors. Qatari companies and investors showed interest in exploring opportunities in the Novgorod Region.
HE First Deputy Governor Evgenii Bogdanov stated that the Russian delegation comprised companies specializing in various sectors eager to enter the Qatari market. He highlighted the industrial development in the Novgorod Region, located between Moscow and St. Petersburg, which is known for industries such as metals, automotive manufacturing, oil and gas equipment, food processing, and advanced technology.
Bogdanov appreciated Qatar Chamber's efforts in bringing the business communities of both countries closer and invited Qatari businessmen to visit the Novgorod Region to explore investment opportunities and foster partnerships with Russian companies.
