Qatar Chamber Explores Enhanced Trade Ties with Iraq and Mauritania

Doha: Qatar Chamber's First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari recently held separate meetings with HE Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Qatar Mohammed Jaafar Al Sadr, and HE Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the State of Qatar Mohamed Mohamed Abdullah Bebane.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting with the Iraqi Ambassador focused on the possibility of establishing a joint Qatari Iraqi Business Council in collaboration with the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce. This initiative aims to bolster cooperation between the Qatari and Iraqi business communities. The discussions also included organizing a Qatari Iraqi Business Forum to connect business owners and investors from both nations. This forum would explore cooperation and partnership opportunities across multiple sectors and provide insights into the investment climate and opportunities available in both countries.

Al Kuwari emphasized Qatar Chamber's dedication to enhancing cooperation between the business communities of both nations. He noted that the Qatari market is open to Iraqi products and investors interested in establishing projects in Qatar. He also expressed the Chamber's willingness to support efforts to form the joint Qatari Iraqi Business Council, which would expand trade and investment cooperation prospects between the two countries.

In parallel, the meeting with the Mauritanian Ambassador focused on strengthening cooperation between Qatar and Mauritania, stimulating joint investments, and promoting Mauritania's openness to Qatari investments in promising sectors. Al Kuwari highlighted the steady growth in Qatari Mauritanian relations and encouraged Qatari businessmen to explore investment opportunities in Mauritania, particularly in sectors backed by government support and favorable investment legislation.
