In response to the heavy rains and flash floods that have swept through several parts of Sudan, Qatar Charity (QC), in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), has initiated a humanitarian project aimed at providing essential shelter materials to hundreds of affected families in six shelters in Port Sudan. During the project, various shelter materials and humanitarian aid were distributed. Acting Director of Qatar Charity's Sudan Office Tariq Mohiuddin said that this project represents a strong start for a sustainable partnership with IOM. He explained that the first phase of the initiative aimed to distribute 550 packages of essential shelter materials to approximately 550 displaced families, in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Commission in the Red Sea State and the concerned committees. He added that in the second phase, 191 tents will be distributed to the shelters affected by the floods and the distribution will also include the host community in the Sinkat area.
