NOUAKCHOTT: Qatar Charity has extended essential food assistance to families hard-hit by recent flooding in the Brakna and Trarza regions of Mauritania, aiming to alleviate the immediate needs of those impacted by the natural disaster.
According to Qatar News Agency, the distribution effort reached 1,000 families who were provided with food baskets containing a month’s supply of essential items. This initiative is part of Qatar Charity’s response to the urgent humanitarian needs in the region following the floods.
During the distribution event, Engineer Omer Abdelaziz, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Mauritania, expressed gratitude to the Mauritanian government, local authorities, and the Food Security Commission for their support and cooperation. He emphasized that the food aid is intended to help the affected families overcome the immediate challenges posed by the floods.
Recipients of the food assistance expressed their appreciation for the support from the people of Qatar, acknowledging the significant impact it would have on their ability to meet basic nutritional needs during this difficult time.
