Qatar Charity Provides Extensive Aid to Rohingya Refugees; Delivers Ramadan Food Parcels in Sri Lanka

Doha: Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of the generous people of Qatar, provided a wide range of humanitarian aid to Rohingya refugees in the camps of Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char Island in Bangladesh in 2024, benefiting more than 234,313 refugees in the fields of health, education, shelter, and food.

According to Qatar News Agency, in the field of health, the aid included free emergency medical tests and essential medicines, benefiting 11,887 refugees. This helped alleviate the burden on the refugee community in an area with scarce health resources.

In the education sector, refugee children received essential school supplies, including bags, uniforms, toys, and benches, benefiting 13,515 children. This helped create a more stable educational environment.

As the number of refugees in the camps increased, shelter remained one of the most urgent needs. Qatar Charity built 326 shelters in Cox's Bazar, providing housing for 1,388 refugees. This contributed to offering protection to displaced families in a challenging environment.

Qatar Charity also distributed refilled cooking gas cylinders to 82,818 refugees, helping to reduce the environmental damage caused by traditional cooking methods, such as firewood.

As part of its efforts to combat hunger, Qatar Charity provided food aid benefiting 30,000 refugees, ensuring that the most vulnerable individuals did not go hungry during difficult times.

As the needs of refugees continue to grow, Qatar Charity remains committed to providing humanitarian aid. In 2025, it aims to reach new areas to ensure a safer and more stable life for these persecuted communities.

Furthermore, with the generous support of the people of Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC), through its Sri Lanka office, has started implementing projects under its Ramadan Campaign "Giving Lives On". As part of its "Feeding" project, Qatar Charity distributed food parcels to nearly 3,400 individuals belonging to the families of sponsored orphans in the Ampara District, eastern Sri Lanka.

This initiative is part of Qatar Charity's ongoing efforts to support the families of the sponsored orphans, especially in the blessed month of Ramadan. The food parcel contained essential items sufficient to meet the needs of the beneficiary families for over 20 days.

The teams at Qatar Charity's office in Sri Lanka ensured that some food parcels were delivered to remote households, particularly those with the elderly and the sick, while the remaining parcels will be distributed through the distribution center.

To help underprivileged families live with dignity, Qatar Charity's Sri Lanka office is preparing to distribute Zakat al-Fitr to around 250 families, benefiting 1,250 individuals.

Through the Eid Clothing Project, the Sri Lanka office will provide approximately 200 orphans with Eid clothing, allowing them to select outfits that meet their individual needs.

With support from the people of Qatar, Qatar Charity's Ramadan campaign "Giving Lives On" aim to benefit 4.5 million people in 40 countries globally.
