Amman: Qatar won one silver and one bronze medal in the second round of the West Asia Beach Volleyball Tour, taking place in Jordan over six days and seeing the participation of 13 men's and 11 women's teams representing seven countries.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatar 2 team consisting of the duo Mehdi Samoud and Mohamed Ehab won the silver medal after having lost the gold to the Omani duo Mazen Al Hashemi and Hood Al Jalboubi. The Qatari duo delivered a strong performance in the final, yet the Omani duo had the edge in decisive moments, clinching the match with set scores of 21-18 and 21-18.
The Qatar 1 team, made up of duo Saif Al Majid and Mahmoud Essam, won the bronze medal after defeating the Lebanese pair Paul Bou Akl and Charbel Khoury in straight sets. Team Qatar 2 had reached the final by defeating Qatar 1 in a head-to-head Qatari semifinal, winning in straight sets with scores of 23-21 and 21-18.
