Hammamet: The 44th session of the General Assembly of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) concluded on Thursday in the Tunisian city of Hammamet. A delegation from Qatar Media Corporation, led by Media Advisor HE Abdulrahman bin Nasser Al Obaidan and including Ali Saleh Al Sada, Director of Qatar TV, took part in the conference. According to Qatar News Agency, the ASBU Conference began on Wednesday, drawing representatives from member states of the Arab League, as well as regional and international professional organizations and unions. During the session, the Arab League announced the approval of the 2024 annual report, the report and recommendations of the Executive Council, and the 4th session of the Arab Media Conference. The 2025 ASBU General Assembly featured panels covering various topics, such as the role of media in confronting fake news and misinformation, radio and television in the digital age, and multi-platform broadcasting. In his address, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Sec retary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League, emphasized the critical role of the Arab States Broadcasting Union in advancing joint Arab media efforts, particularly aligned with the Council of Arab Information Ministers' directives. Khattabi also underscored the Arab League's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Arab States Broadcasting Union to support Arab issues, especially the Palestinian issue. He commended the Union's significant coverage of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
