Qatar CPI Sees 1.11% Year-on-Year Increase in October

Doha: The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Qatar for October 2025 reached 110.41 points, marking an increase of 0.90 percent compared to the previous month, September 2025, and a rise of 1.11 percent compared to October 2024. The CPI is a crucial measure of inflation, encompassing 12 main groups of consumer goods and services, totaling 737 items. It is calculated using 2018 as the base year, with data derived from the Household Income and Expenditure Survey conducted in 2017-2018.

According to Qatar News Agency, data from the National Planning Council attributed the monthly increase to rising costs in seven groups. The "miscellaneous goods and services" group saw the highest rise at 4.76 percent, followed by the "recreation and culture" group at 3.23 percent. Increases were also noted in the "housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels" group by 0.83 percent, "restaurants and hotels" by 0.20 percent, "transport" by 0.09 percent, "health" by 0.03 percent, and "furniture and household equipment" by 0.01 percent. Conversely, the "food and beverages" group decreased by 0.26 percent, "communication" by 0.08 percent, and "clothing and footwear" by 0.02 percent, while the "tobacco" and "education" groups showed no change.

The annual increase, comparing October 2025 with the same month in 2024, was linked to rises in seven groups. The "miscellaneous goods and services" group again led with a 15.80 percent increase, followed by the "education" group at 2.07 percent, "clothing and footwear" at 1.65 percent, "furniture and household equipment" at 1.39 percent, "housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels" at 0.66 percent, "recreation and culture" at 0.38 percent, and "communication" at 0.05 percent.

Simultaneously, the index recorded decreases in four groups: "restaurants and hotels" fell by 2.34 percent, "health" by 0.75 percent, "food and beverages" by 0.70 percent, and "transport" by 0.46 percent, with no significant change in the "tobacco" group. Excluding the "housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels" group, the CPI for October 2025 reached 115.21, reflecting a 0.91 percent increase from September 2025 and a 1.21 percent rise from October 2024.
