Doha: Qatar Men's Team started their campaign in the FIP Asia Padel Cup Qatar 2025 with a win against Kuwait on Monday.
According to Qatar News Agency, defeating Kuwait with a score of 2-1 in the first round of Group B matches, the Qatar team comprised players Mohammed Saadon and Hassan Wali, Rashid Nawaf and Meshari Nawaf, in addition to Khalid Saadon and Mohammed Al Hajji. Qatari player Mohammed Saadon expressed his happiness at starting the tournament with a win alongside his teammates against Kuwait in their opening match.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Saadon said the Qatari team has high ambitions to go far in the tournament, especially as it is the first edition and is being held at the Khalifa International Complex in Doha. He praised the world-class atmosphere and organization provided by the organizing committee and the Qatar Padel Federation, highlighting the team's mix of experience and youth. He stressed that they will give their all in tomorrow's match against Pakistan to secure qualification for the semifinals before facing Australia in the final group stage round.
In turn, Player Hassan Wali said that having the FIP Asia Padel Cup take place in Doha greatly motivates the Qatari team to reach the final match, affirming their readiness to win the remaining games and give their best effort.
For his part, President of Padel Asia Tariq Zainal praised FIP Asia Padel Cup Qatar 2025's vibrant atmosphere, stating that the high level of engagement and performance reflects a strong start for a promising continental project aimed at solidifying the sport's position in Asia. He expressed pride in launching the first Asia Padel Cup with such strong momentum, saying that the success of this first edition cannot be mentioned without acknowledging the major role played by the Qatar Padel Federation, which provided all logistical, organizational, and technical support at the highest level. This gave the tournament a uniquely professional character that reflects Qatar's vast experience in hosting major international sporting events.
Zainal added that this tournament is laying the foundations today for a new chapter in the history of Asian padel. This first edition in Qatar will be the launchpad for bigger and stronger championships in the coming years. Our vision is to make Asia a globally competitive force, and this championship is just the beginning.
