Qatar Engages in Arab Forum on Food Safety in Cairo.

Cairo: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality, took part in the inaugural Arab forum focused on food safety and sanitary and phytosanitary measures within the framework of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area. This three-day event commenced in Cairo, aiming to address critical food safety challenges in the Arab region. According to Qatar News Agency, the General Secretariat of the Arab League organized the forum in collaboration with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development. The event sought to enhance economic integration among Arab nations, ensuring food safety and sanitary measures do not hinder international trade. The conference emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in these areas while streamlining trade procedures among participating countries. Qatar's involvement underscores its commitment to fostering economic integration by balancing food safety and phytosanitary measures with international trade dynamics. The forum facilitated the sharing of experiences and expertise between agricultural producing and exporting countries, highlighting the benefits of cooperation in overcoming current food safety challenges. The forum's agenda also included the 17th meeting of the Arab Specialized Team for Food Safety. A round table discussion was held involving representatives from the team, the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, and specialized United Nations and Arab organizations. This session explored potential future collaborations to strengthen food safety measures across the region.
