Qatar Engages in Arab League’s Solidarity Events for Palestinian People.

Cairo: The State of Qatar took part in the Arab League's events on Sunday at its headquarters in Cairo, commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed annually on November 29. Maryam Ahmed Al Shibi, the Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League, led the Qatari delegation at these events. According to Qatar News Agency, the gatherings included participation from Dr. Saeed Abu Ali, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League and Head of the Palestinian and Occupied Arab Territories Sector, Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), as well as permanent delegates to the Arab League. A number of ambassadors and representatives from foreign countries and various Arab and international organizations were also present. The events underscored solidarity with the Palestinian people in their ongoing struggle to reclaim their legitimate rights to freedom and independenc e. The discussions focused on ending the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, endorsed by the United Nations in 1977, sees annual events on November 29. This year's observance occurs amid the ongoing Israeli occupation's military actions in the Gaza Strip, entering its 14th consecutive month.
