Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani engaged in a series of diplomatic meetings on Sunday, hosting HE Prime Minister of Iraq, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, at Lusail Palace. In a separate meeting, HH the Amir also met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye, Hakan Fidan, at his office in Lusail Palace.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani had a busy schedule, meeting with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye, Hakan Fidan. Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed engaged in phone conversations with key foreign ministers, including HH Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, and HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan Dr. Ayman Safadi.
On the domestic front, HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, presided over the first 2026 meeting of the Supreme Council of the Police Academy, demonstrating Qatar's ongoing commitment to internal security and education.
Internationally, Qatar is actively participating in the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO in Busan, Republic of Korea. This event was inaugurated by President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae Myung, highlighting Qatar's involvement in global cultural and heritage initiatives.
In economic developments, Qatar Islamic Insurance reported a 13.4% drop in net profit for the first half of 2026, totaling QR 59.8 million, compared to QR 69.1 million in the same period in 2025. Conversely, Qatar Oman Investment Company recorded a 15% increase in net profit for the first half of 2026, reaching QR 4.63 million, up from QR 4.01 million in the corresponding period of 2025.
Furthermore, Qatar Charity has taken a significant step in healthcare by signing a framework cooperation agreement with Ibn Sina University Hospital Center in Morocco. This agreement aims to support life-saving treatment for children with congenital heart defects, emphasizing Qatar's commitment to humanitarian efforts abroad.
