Cairo: The inaugural Arab Conference for the Development of Agricultural Exports concluded successfully, marking a significant participation by the State of Qatar. The two-day event, organized by the Secretariat General of the Arab League, was held in Cairo and focused on enhancing cooperation among Arab nations in the agricultural sector. According to Qatar News Agency, the State of Qatar was represented by a delegation from the Ministry of Municipality and its permanent delegation to the Arab League. The conference aimed to bolster agricultural development and research, improve production quality, and increase the competitiveness of Arab agricultural products in global markets. Discussions also included the Arab League's initiatives to develop agricultural exports, the role of supply chains, investments, and agricultural credit in boosting these exports, as well as sharing insights from Arab and international experiences in this sector. The participation of Qatar underscores its commitment to strengthenin g agricultural and trade cooperation among Arab states. It also aligns with Qatar's dedication to support joint Arab initiatives. The Greater Arab Free Trade Area presents numerous advantages for member states, including reduced customs duties and facilitated trade flow. HE Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Ali bin Ibrahim Al Maliki, highlighted the importance of the conference. He emphasized its relevance given the challenges faced by Arab agricultural exports and the need for development in this area. His Excellency noted the critical timing of the conference, considering current global events and their impacts, and the urgent need for Arab countries to enhance their agricultural exports. The conference attracted a diverse group of participants, including officials, decision-makers, experts, representatives from the private sector, and organizations involved in the agricultural and commercial fields. It was part of the Arab Economic Integrat ion support projects within the second phase of the Aid for Trade Program, which is funded by the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation to promote agricultural trade in the Arab region.
