Helsinki: The State of Qatar actively participated in the 119th annual FAI General Conference, which convened in Helsinki, Finland. This event brought together representatives from 43 countries, along with the FAI's subsidiary commissions, to discuss key developments in the field of air sports.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar's delegation was led by Hazza Hamad Al Attiyah, Secretary-General of the Qatar Air Sports Committee (QASC), and Dr. Omar Al Khayyat, QASC's technical expert. They engaged in discussions and work sessions focused on the latest global updates in air sports.
The conference, co-chaired by FAI President Greg Principato and FAI Secretary-General Markus Haggeney, featured a comprehensive agenda. Deliberations included the federation's current activities, plans for upcoming global tournaments, and the approval of the financial budget for 2026.
An important highlight of the event was the introduction of the FAI Forum under the theme "Working Better Together." This initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing collaboration and sharing expertise among member states.
Participants also engaged in interactive panel discussions with a distinguished group of international experts. These discussions addressed critical topics such as air safety, innovation, airspace management, and the role of women in air sports.
The conference concluded with a vote to select Lausanne, Switzerland, as the host city for the 120th FAI General Conference, scheduled for October 2026.
