Ljubljana: The State of Qatar, in collaboration with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Kingdom of Bahrain, took part in a high-level meeting in Ljubljana to address pressing regional issues with Her Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon. Representing Qatar at the meeting was His Excellency Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting centered on several pressing topics, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip. Discussions emphasized the importance of adhering to the ceasefire agreement and fully implementing its provisions. Participants underscored the necessity of ensuring the entry of sufficient and sustained humanitarian assistance into Gaza and supporting efforts to ensure the success of the peace plan launched by President Donald Trump. The goal is to advance towards a political resolution that envisions an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution.
The discussions also focused on the occupied West Bank, highlighting the need to halt illegal unilateral Israeli actions and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, which exacerbate tensions and undermine efforts at de-escalation. The meeting expressed appreciation for Slovenia's supportive stance on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its recognition of the State of Palestine based on the two-state solution.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed developments in the broader region, exploring ways to reduce escalation through negotiation and dialogue, and discussed efforts to resolve the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
