Qatar Engages in International Discussions at Singapore Conference

Doha: The State of Qatar actively participated in the Societies of Opportunity 2025 Conference, which took place in Singapore from April 29 to 30, 2025. Represented by Her Excellency Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs, Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani, Qatar joined a distinguished assembly of government representatives, international institutions, and policymakers to discuss strategies for enhancing social mobility and widening access to opportunities within communities.

According to Qatar News Agency, the conference aimed at exchanging experiences and reviewing best practices that promote comprehensive social development. This significant event was organized by the Singapore Ministry of Social and Family Development, in collaboration with the Public Policy Institute at the National University of Singapore. On the sidelines, Her Excellency Sheikha Sheikha engaged in several bilateral meetings to further Qatar's commitment to family and social development initiatives.

In a notable meeting with Ng Hao Yue, the Permanent Secretary for Development at the Singapore Ministry of Social and Family Development, discussions centered around strengthening joint cooperation and sharing expertise in family policies and programs. They also evaluated mechanisms to activate the memorandum of understanding (MoU) previously signed between the two parties, while exploring opportunities for future collaborative projects.

Her Excellency also conferred with HE Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services of Turkiye, Zafer Daroglu, focusing on Turkiye's invitation for Qatar to participate in the International Family Forum. Their discussions included reviewing the action plan within the framework of their MoU, as well as exploring future prospects for bilateral cooperation in family and social development sectors.

Concluding her engagements, Her Excellency met with Permanent Undersecretary at the Ministry of Social and Family Development of Singapore, Opeik Kam, to express gratitude for the hospitality and organization of the conference. The interactions underscored Qatar's dedication to fostering collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange in the realm of family and social development.
